Stefan has started dancing Tango in 2004 after witnessing some amazing Tango danced by Moti with Mitra on 3rd Street Promenade and immediately picked up classes with Moti. Since that time he has traveled across the US to several festivals to become a festival addict himself.
Since 2006 he is teaching in Mar Vista with Mitra Martin employing a original teaching technique - emphasis on milongero style - passed on to them by Jaimes Friedgen from Seattle , with whom he has studied extensively since 2005.
Stefan's professional attitude as a teacher make him clear, dedicated, disciplined and contagiously enthusiastic. His emphasis on teaching a solid basis in "close embrace" prepares the students thoroughly for the more challenging and complex "open embrace". A honest, intimate connection to the partner is his constant aspiration in teaching and social dancing. He likes to dance close embrace and creates a welcoming, inclusive and playful mood with his partners. Very dedicated to finding the intricacies and subtleties of the music and expressing them in dancing, he currently is getting established as a Tango DJ in the LA community with accent on a positive mood in support of a good flow on the dance floor.
Due to his background in multiple non social dance and movement forms (modern dance, contemporary, ballet, t'ai chi, capoeira, tensegrity, karate, contact improvisation) and a professional contemporary dance performance carrier, he is constantly innovating new movement qualities and forms specially combining Tango with Contact Improvisation (CI) - he has been teaching CI on the West Coast for more then 9 years.
